You will need to set up a
connection to the Internet
Configuring Dial-up
Networking
If you do not have a Dial-up
networking icon, you'll need to install it with the following instructions:
To fix this problem:
-
Open up your Control Panel.
-
Go to Add/Remove
programs.
-
Click on the Windows Setup
tab.
-
Double-Click on
Communications. (Or select it, then click on Details)
-
Put a checkmark beside
Dial-Up Networking.
-
Click on Ok.
Configuring Dial-up
Connectoid
To establish a connection:
From the desktop with all the
icons:
For "Type a name for the
computer you are dialing:", type in OnlineISP.
-
Your modem should already be
displayed in "Select a device". If it isn't , select it.

Click Next.
-
In "Type the phone
number for the computer you want to call", remove any information in
the Area code and put the
Access Number
with the area code for the connection in Telephone number.
(Do not type your phone number here and do not use spaces or
dashes.)
-
Click Next.
-
Click Finish.
-
You will see a new connection
icon called OnlineISP.
-
Right click on the OnlineISP
icon.
-
Left click on Properties.

-
Take the check marks out of
everything, except Enable software compression and TCP/IP.
-
Click OK.
-
Right click on the OnlineISP
icon.
-
Left click on Create
Shortcut.
-
Click on
Yes.
-
Close the
Dial-up Networking window.
-
Close the My
Computer window.
-
You should
see this icon on the desktop.

-
Double-click
on the Shortcut to OnlineISP icon, on the desktop to connect.
-
Make sure
that the User name and Password are EXACTLY the same as the User Name
and Password you supplied ONLine.
-
You're done!
Your internet connection will be up and running as soon as you see the two
small computers (modem icon) in the lower right corner of the screen, close to
the time.
To go to the World
Wide Web (Internet) just double click on Internet Explorer
